![]() ![]() Have you confirmed that the P2715Q’s HDMI input works properly when driven by some other PC (or any other HDMI source device) and/or confirmed that this Inspiron system works properly with other HDMI displays/TVs? All that said, the P2715Q is unlikely to be a good choice for your friend’s system. Finding more complex cables is unlikely to solve anything. The only other possibility might be a USB-C connection through a USB-C to DP cable, in which case you may well be able to get 4K 60 Hz, but that assumes that the system has a USB-C output that’s actually capable of video output, which is an optional capability on USB-C ports and may not have been implemented on the low-end Inspiron systems of that If a basic HDMI cable didn’t work, then there’s something else going on here. ![]() ![]() That actually WOULD map cleanly onto a 3840x2160 pixel grid since each rendered pixel would be assigned to a 2x2 physical pixel grid, but of course then you’ve only got 1080p resolution. And in fact the Inspiron 3593’s HDMI output has some bizarre limitation whereby it can only output 1080p. At that point you’d get a better image using a 27” display that actually had a 2560x1440 native resolution. You’d instead be limited to 4K 30 Hz, which looks laggy to many people, or else something like 2560x1440 60 Hz, which will result in scaling and associated artifacts since a 2560x1440 signal does not map cleanly onto a 3840x2160 physical pixel grid. It would have been helpful to provide the actual system model rather than just the series designation and CPU (the system model would be something like Inspiron 3577, for example), but based on the CPU generation it almost certainly does NOT have an HDMI 2.0 output, and in that case even if you get an HDMI connection working, it won’t be able to run that display at 4K 60 Hz. ![]() If a basic HDMI cable didn’t work, then there’s something else going on here. ![]()
